Happy new year!
Here we are with a blank slate in front of us, and we each have the opportunity to create whatever it is that we want to create for ourselves. Nothing and no one can hold us back…except for ourselves.
So my question to you is… What do you want to create this year?
Each of us will go on our own journey this year towards new and exciting growth. The road may be rocky at times, and most assuredly we won’t be able to predict each bend along the way.
However, there are a few steps you can take that will help you pave the way to growth, expansion and success in the upcoming year.
Entrepreneurship is a journey that begins with a dream. What is yours? Why did you start your business in the first place? What is it that you want to achieve? Take the time to dream. Consider what you want your life to look like a year from now, in 5 years, in 10 years. I’m talking about those dreams that might seem so crazy big right now that you don’t know how they’ll come true. And that’s just perfect. You don’t need to know how they will come true – just that you wouldn’t have the dream if it couldn’t become a reality. Don’t get too attached to how it will happen. Just trust that if you’re dreaming it, it can be so.
The next step is to visualize your dreams as if they are already reality. See them in your mind. Create a vision board that you keep in front of you on a regular basis. You can make a physical vision board or a digital one or both. You could also use an app like Hay House Vision Board or The Subconscious Vision Board so you have access to your vision board on your phone. As you’re visualizing your dreams, make sure to visualize yourself in them. What are you doing? How do you feel? Allow yourself to embody that feeling of happiness that comes with your dreams becoming reality.
Gratitude begins with today. Be grateful for where you are, what you’re doing and who you’re doing it with. This gratitude leads to a feeling of happiness and fulfillment where you are right now, and that positivity will help our dreams come to fruition even faster. In addition to being grateful for all the good things in your life right now, be grateful for what is yet to come. Being grateful for what you want to create in your life will help you create it even faster.
Now that you can see your dreams and are grateful for them, it’s time to create a strategy to help you get there. However, a word of caution: don’t be so tied to your strategy that you don’t allow yourself to adapt and deviate when new opportunities arise. When we get too focused on how to achieve our dreams, sometimes we actually limit ourselves by getting in our own way. That said, it’s important to create a strategy that will help us keep moving forward. This begins by setting goals. Look at the upcoming year and set specific goals that can be measured. Then break it down so that you have monthly and quarterly goals to help you get there.
Now that you have a plan in place, your job is to keep moving forward. Keep taking consistent action. Assuming you want to take your business to new heights this year, then consider taking actions you have never taken before. If you persist in only taking the same actions you’ve taken before then you’ll stay in the same place you are now. To move forward differently in the upcoming year, take new action and be consistent.
